Sigma Beta Rho is the premier national multicultural fraternity in the United States. Founded in 1996 on the principles of duty to society, dedication to brotherhood, and the remembrance of cultural awareness, Sigma Beta Rho has since grown to share its goals with over 2,500 men on over 45 college campuses.

The University of North Florida - Alpha Theta Chapter was founded on April 10th, 2014 by 4 young gentlemen. These individuals were strangers to one another, coming from different cultures, backgrounds, and lifestyles. Through the principles of Sigma Beta Rho, these 4 men grew to understand and respect one another, and celebrate the differences which make them unique. Unified through diversity, these gentlemen became known as the Alpha Class of University of North Florida while officially being recognized as an officially recognized multicultural Greek organization at University of North Florida.

In the year that followed, the Alpha Class passed on the teachings of brotherhood beyond all barriers to 17 additional gentlemen who were inducted as the Beta, Gamma and Delta classes of Sigma Beta Rho at University of North Florida. Within the 2 years of founding Sigma Beta Rho at University of North Florida, these 23 gentlemen pioneered the establishment to become an officially recognized as an Associate Chapter on July 24th, 2016 of Sigma Beta Rho Fraternity, Inc. On August 17th, 2018, University of North Florida was given Alpha Theta Chapter status. Their enthusiasm has fueled their success and they continue to maintain an active presence in both the UNF and surrounding Jacksonville community.

As a fraternity that is heavily invested in service, we have chosen S.O.S. Children's Villages International to be our national philanthropy. This foundation has been working with disadvantaged families around the world (over 133 different countries) since 1960 in order to prevent crises that can lead to family separation. The focus is on abandoned, destitute and orphaned children requiring family-based child care. Millions of children worldwide are living without their biological families therefore S.O.S. provides about 50,000 such children and 15,000 young adults with a permanent new family, with a '24 hours a day' new S.O.S. mother to provide family-based care.

At the chapter level, we support Be the Change. Be the Change is an annual national day of service coordinated by South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT) to inspire and foster civic engagement and stronger communities through volunteerism and community service. Every year, thousands of participants across the country collectively contribute numerous hours of community service in the spirit of Mahatma Gandhi's famous quote, "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Our chapter makes it a priority each semester to give back to its local community. In pursuit of this goal, every brother gives their time taking part in chapter-organized service events.
